Rental security deposit: authorize before handover
For a rental handover, PayLinker lets the manager ask the customer to authorize a security-deposit amount on their card, separately from the rent or stay price.

Examples for this activity
- A short stay has its price paid and a separate guarantee authorized.
- A key handover takes place after the manager checks the authorization under the agreed terms.
Payment steps
Agree on the guarantee amount and conditions separately from the rental price. Send a distinct card-authorization link by SMS or email and check its status. Before expiry, release it or capture all or part only if needed under the agreed conditions.
A question before you start
Is the amount collected as soon as the customer authorizes it?
No. Authorization is not collection; a later full or partial capture is a separate action if needed before expiry.

A useful distinction
Choose the right next step
PayLinker shows the exact expiry after authorization. Check it against the handover date instead of assuming a fixed duration. See the relevant PayLinker flow.
